She was built for Carkin, Stickney & Cram and lasted until 1909. 1973:   MANCHESTER TRADER, the second ship of this name to visit the Great Lakes, was owned by the Prince Line when it first came inland, on charter to Manchester Liners Ltd., in 1964. St Mary’s River Closed due to Marine Casualty SAULT STE MARIE, MI – (9 am update) The St. Marys River has been closed due to a marine casualty.  AIS indicates that the American Mariner is stopped, out of the channel.  It may possibly be aground.  It was headed upbound prior to crossing over the downbound channel and stopping. The Purvis tugs Anglian Lady and W I Scott Purvis are currently downbound north of Neebish Island, possibly responding to the incident. The Katmai Bay and other coast guard vessels are also onsite. Port of Cleveland hires contractor to remove historic Hulett ore unloaders CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Port of Cleveland announced Friday it has signed a contract with Maple Leaf Demolition of Canton, Ohio to remove the disassembled components of two historic Hulett ore unloaders from the Port’s Cleveland Bulk Terminal on Whiskey Island along Lake Erie. Site preparation and clearing will commence immediately and the removal will occur in April and May, the Port said in its news release.
